Google buzz is to compete facebook and twitter. Now they have this Google+ compete with facebook alone. It's nice to know where it will be headed as we are approaching to year 2012. Will Google buzz and Google+ succeed or not?

As people are getting more information & knowledge companies are more keen what consumers are discussing & saying about it. Social Media had a strong impact about public opinion & what they are expressing about the brand & products.

That's right. Since that is the case, Buzz should welcome other non-gmail account too.

Google Buzz is really a cool networking site, but I don't think that it can compete with Facebook or Twitter. Remember that not all FB and Twitter users have gmail.

I'm still a Twitter fan. Google Buzz is OK, but definitely didn't live up to its expectations. I've heard some talk about Google coming out with a new, better version of Buzz that will integrate seamlessly with some other social media platforms. Looking forward to seeing a new update from them soon.

Google buzz works great for me. It's easy to because of plug-ins that is more convenient for social media. it is also convenient because I use gmail so it will automatically link for social media. What's good about it is that there is a healthy competition between the two that are both beneficial to the users.

I agree with "Social Media Marketing Agentur" there: what impact has Google Buzz made? None whatsoever, as far as I can see. I think the product has pretty much failed. It would have made more impact if it was brought out before Twitter, but that not's the case. Also, whatever happened to Google Wave? I never hear anything about it either.

Orkut was first step in Community Site war by Google, started in 2004 as a community site to combat MySpace, but it gained popularity in limited number of countries including Brazil, India, etc.

Gmail has 176 million users in December, according to ComScore (SCOR). That left it behind Microsoft’s Hotmail, which had 369 million, and Yahoo! Mail, with 304 million. Still, Google grew 44% over the same month in 2008—more than triple the average rate of growth for the category, according to ComScore.

Then again, the same can be said of Facebook. In February, the company said it more than doubled its number of users from the previous year, to 400 million. With such a mass of interconnected users, the company is extending its social influence across the Web—helping users find information, on many sites, through their friendships rather than more traditional means like search. The Palo Alto (Calif.) company may also be planning to move squarely onto Gmail’s turf: On Feb.5, the blog TechCrunch reported that Facebook is developing a more full-featured Web e-mail product. Facebook spokeswoman Meredith Chin declined to discuss the company’s plans regarding messaging.
